Wine Classes, Prix-Fixe Menus and Restaurant Week Special Offer

It's been a busy summer and I've neglected my little blog.

I have still been collecting my great and not-so-great dining experiences in Boston -- many to recognize my foodie friends' birthdays, promotions and grad school acceptance celebrations that all seemed to fall during the same one-month period -- while starting a new full-time job and going for my
Wine & Spirits Educational Trust (WSET) Intermediate Certification with Grape Experience's Adam Chase.

Like I said, busy summer, and August is just beginning!

I'm thoroughly enjoying the wine classes, though after only three 3-hour sessions I'm acting like I know way more than I do. May be wise of me to crack down on studying so I really will know more than I do.

The hardest thing I find about the class is actually figuring out what I'm tasting, especially by the 12th glass of wine. They all start to taste very similar after seven or eight -- and I don't mean because I'm drunk.

Here's a peak at some upcoming reviews, including prix-fixe menus I tried:

  • Sel de la Terre in Downtown: Why you'll want to bring your own cheese.
  • Masa in the South End: Why you'll need to go prepared.
  • The Beehive in the South End: Why you may be too late.
  • Union in the South End: Why you need to just go.

Also coming this month for Restaurant Week and foodie guy's birthday dinner:
  • The Palm in Copley
  • KO Prime in Downtown
  • Sorellina in Back Bay

Speaking of Boston Restaurant Week, if you are a big fan of those discounted menus and an Amex card holder, you can make some of your dining dollars back.

"American Express has launched a new incentive reward  to dine at several Restaurant Week Boston restaurants during the 12-day event. Dine three or more times at participating restaurants during Summer Restaurant Week Boston® using any American Express® Card and you will receive an American Express® Gift Card worth $25.00." -
