Happy Independence Day: July prix-fixe menus in Boston

Summer is generally a great time for the more shallow-pocketed Boston foodie. Today's holiday is no exception as some area restaurants are inspired to help you celebrate our nation's birth with cheap(er) eats.

First off, fast approaching is one of my favorite biannual events, Restaurant Week, for which I will be posting August's participating restaurants shortly.

Epicurean Evenings at
Four Seasons Aujourd'hui are back. Every Tuesday in July beginning at 6:00 pm you can enjoy three light courses of modern French fare paired with three wines for $45.00. Call 617-351-2037 for information on next Tuesday's theme and reservations.

Wine Wednesdays continue at
Sel de la Terre, where every week at 7:00 pm you can partake in a four-course meal with wine pairings for $45.00. Pay $7.00 more and get a "special dessert a la carte." Check the menu for upcoming themes.

The South End's
Icarus is celebrating its 29th anniversary every night in July with a $29.00 three-course menu featuring primarily organic ingredients. Call 617-426-1790 for more menu information and reservations. If you miss out on a table for this event, Icarus will also be offering its Restaurant Week menu for two weeks in August.

Last but not least, several restaurants are helping you celebrate Bastille Day with special dinners throughout the month of July.

Masa Restaurant presents a three-course menu of its tasty Southwestern fare for just $29.00. Top it off with $5.00 margaritas! This deal is available in July only.

Union Bar and Grille is serving up its three-course summer BBQ menu -- with four options available per course -- for only $37.04. Available every night in July beginning today, $4.00 drink specials can also be paired with your meal. (Sangria fans will be happy.)

Aquitane French bistro is also offering a three-course dinner menu with a glass of sparkling wine for $37.14, also every night this month beginning today.

Enjoy your independence and happy dining!
