Foodie Calendar: May, June, July 2007

I fell behind on my calendaring, partially because I've had to devote time to my job -- that thing that helps fund my foodie pursuits -- and partially because there are so many things going on that I couldn't fit into one calendar. Look around you. There's a good chance you live within 60 minutes of a restaurant hosting a special banquet, a farm planning a blueberry, strawberry or other fruit festival, a winery throwing a praise-the-grape party or even just a liquor store offering a wine tasting. Many liquor stores I've come across in Boston offer free tastings each week. The stodgier ones will make you pay up to $40 for those samples, so keep looking for the free ones.

Below is just a glimpse of some of the larger and more popular events happening across the country and beyond. If I could pick any to attend, I'm pretty sure I'd run off to Hawaii (picture). The Kapalua Resort's Wine and Food Festival is in its 26th year and attracts the world's top winemarkers, sommeliers and chefs. Plus, it's Hawaii! Ocean-side gourmet dining sounds right up my alley. Then again, an entire expo devoted to dessert may make me forget where I am entirely.
